Verbal violations
Crimson colored—adjectives
Bleeding unto her words
The shades reminiscent—
Of the darkness in her eyes
Outlines of yesteryear
Her suggestive sins
Linger in the mirror
Morphing images—she cries
Out to those torturous afflictions
She has branded on her skin
Verbal violations
The color of Their words
White out Their guilty consciences
And blacken prejudices
A refugee
In the land of femininity
Her sun-kissed body
Impaled by Their verbs
Rendering her colorless—
Merely turquoise veins
Spilling sorrows—
Spectrums puddle
Upon Their floors
Verbal violations
Their declarations of:
“Scarlet, you siren”
Make her question—existence
Their breath implying she is—
A woman
She must confess Their guilt—
As it has tattooed the body
Ink provides the colors
Freedom through expression
She finds sanctity in pens
